I was really surprised by this. In the middle of Iowa down long straight roads is the Grotto of the Redemption. It took the guy who built it over 10 years to get the stones to build it and in the middle of Iowa 100 years ago, I can see how that is a real challenge. Very impressive.

If you cross through the state of Iowa in any way it would be well worth your time to stop in West Bend Iowa and see the grotto. People have been visiting this place for years. Great place to park your motorhome for a few days and take it all in. Be sure and get to the Rock Studio. Amazing rocks from all over the world

Absolutely stunning rocks and crystals. Perfect place for an aspiring geologist, a person of religious beliefs, or a person seeking redemption. The story it follows is impressive also. There's a little gift shop that has everything from trinkets, to crystals. From mugs to statues.

NOTE: You can visit at any time of day. There is no fence or gate or admission charge. But check the hours on the gift shop if you want a souvenir, as it closes early. Overall, it was a very cool place, especially to be in such a small town in Iowa. If you’re a fan of religious grottos or gemstones/rocks this place will not disappoint. Tons of geodes, elaborate shells, and crystal formations have all been installed in the grotto and the effect is quite dazzling. You can walk through in 10 minutes if you’re in a hurry or stroll slowly and stop at the gift shop for an hour-long visit.

If you're an avian enthusiast, there's something for you as well. In the front lawn there's a pond with a couple ducks and a swan.

Awesome place! It is very visually stimulating. So much to take in and see. Worth a visit. Pictures do not even come close to seeing it in person.
